WHY SHOULD I HAVE MY PORTRAIT TAKEN

I often get asked this question, and the truth is, there are so many reasons to have a good photo of yourself. I tell anyone who listens that it is incredibly important, as well as printing your photos. Anything from snapshots of a sleeping child, to wedding photos and portraits need to be turned into tangible copies. Why? Because of the unknown. You never know what will happen and when those prints will become an invaluable keepsake for your loved ones. Let me make a short list here of the reasons:

- How many really good photographs of yourself do you have? None? Because you're not photogenic?

Ever consider maybe that it is not your fault? It is not your job to be photogenic, it is the photographer's

job to make you look photogenic.

- Do you feel you need to lose weight before having your photo taken? What if I tell you weight change

won't make you magically love your body? It also won't have any effect on how much the people

around you love you. So why don't you take a small step towards self-love, get your portrait taken, and

then celebrate with another session once you've reached your goal weight?

- Beautiful, timeless images of yourself, printed on the right paper and stored correctly, live more than a

hundred years. This means they will outlive me, you and likely your children. One day someone will

hold that picture and say: This is my great-grandmother/aunt, wasn't she beautiful? Think about how

much you enjoy looking through old photographs of your grandmother and great-grandmother and

how special they are to you. One day your children will also cherish your portraits

- One day when you are not here anymore, your children will be looking for photos of you - what will they

find?

- Especially if you hate every single image of yourself you need to give this another try. Good photos and

a fun session can give you an incredible boost in confidence and it's a bit addictive I've heard

- You deserve to look and feel beautiful! Women have a tendency to put everyone else before ourselves.

Often, we push away the idea that we are beautiful and deserve to have our photos taken exactly as we

are.

We need to exist in photographs for those who love us.

As a portrait photographer, to me it is more than just snapping the shutter. When I create a photo, I am making more than just a paper with an image on it, I am giving you a tangible piece in time, something that can never be recovered and is priceless
